Well ... since one of the multiple moderators of this board hasn't been banned at Diane's website, I don't get the anger. The folks who do get booted over there are those who send unsolicited beheading photographs to members they believe are anti-Custer and due to that, are in league with Al-Qaeda, folks who used her board to get even with Robert Nightingale (whatever), and some who were just unwisely ignorant of the board's population, those who insulted entire populations of Indians, women, and whatevers. If the moderator of that board has a policy of banning people for sending private emails or any other personal activities engaged in off the message board, then this policy should be announced ahead of time. The same goes for banning people who post LBH related news stories she doesn't like regarding her personal friend Nighten whatever. One does not ban members on a whim or a personal preference. Ms. Blinn, I have not seen the remark you mention. I am very sorry that I am not able to peruse each and every post on this forum. If you have a specific complaint that you feel is inappropriate, send me a personal note thru our in-house message system. Include the location of the post and explain your specific objections to it, and we will take a look at it and evaluate whether or not we feel it rises to the level of offensive behavior. There is a very fine line we all walk when it comes to this sort of action. Melani has already been complaining because I removed several offensive passages from otherwise productive posts, and this has led to a number of threads discussing my alleged overuse of removal of offensive posts. Now you are alleging that I am not censoring the offensive material enough. It seems I just can't win with some of you. Billy Markland is a fine historian. However he will need to control himself and respect the rules of this forum if he wishes to continue posting here. He will not be granted any special favors or treatment that he is apparently used to getting on other forums. This is utter nonsense Ms. Blinn. You really should get your facts straight before you attempt to forward such propaganda on this forum. You are anything but a disinterested party in this matter. The faction you choose to support submitted their own resignations of their own free will. The results of their "humble approach" to our finances can be seen by anyone who examines the financial statements posted at the website. If you wish to read diatribes, Ms. Blinn, you need only read the false allegations and nonsense being posted at your home forum. Your very close alliance to Diane Merkel is well known here and, for whatever reason, you have decided to carry her water bucket. The LBHA is neither pro- or anti- anything. No one has an agenda to silence you or anyone else (or you wouldn't be posting here right now). You are entitled to your opinions, no matter how 'off the wall' they may be. If you feel you have been the target of insults and personal assaults, then I suggest you bring the matter to my attention along with specifics in a private message. If it is shown that you have been unfairly targeted by an unprovoked attack, then I will deal with the situation. The Moderator

All I am going to say is that if this attitude of condescencion continues, there will be no more LBHA. Remember that the MEMBERS are in control of this organisation, not the Board of Directors. They serve at our will--as do you.
And I did see the email from Kevin Connelly. The propaganda is coming--clearly--from someone other than myself.
BTW ... am I wrong or am I just imagining we still have a treasurer? Why the heck isn't he in control of the organisation's finances? And just what happened to that annual statement from the audit committee?

Moderator--
You will never convince me that anyone from the other board has come over here to disrupt these boards, and that includes Billy Markland. Markland asked legitimate questions and brought up legitimate issues.
Quite frankly, I think you are all too damned defensive. I still fully believe there is absolutely no call for any of this to be discussed in any way other than a civilized manner. Banning Markland like a schoolchild will accomplish nothing. Not a thing!
Also, I have been a member of the other board since September 2005 and the only person I know of who was suspended was David and even then only because of extremely offensive epithets and offensive pictures he posted. I also take greater umbrage at that trashy article in the "Newsletter" than anything Billy Markland has even intimated.
This is your loss. Access to Markland's work is invaluable for data involving any aspect of this battle or of the old West in general. It's like destroying all copies of Walter Camp's notes. I don't care who started it; I don't care who's to blame. The loss of Markland-- and now "Foolkiller"-- is awful. To allow it to have happened is so short-sighted as to be beyond words to me. Are we that smug? You have allowed two of the top handful of people to escape your grasp, to remove themselves from your forum when you need them the most. And because of what? [Please, spare me the usual bromides. You guys have made a big mistake here.]
Best wishes, Fred.

If you ban Billy I will join him in the legal action by providing financial support and as a member also of LBHA. Thats good to know, Benteeneast. There is a whole list of people who have been banned at Diane's forum. Perhaps you would like to contribute to their legal fund as well? Could you produce that list so I could see who is on it?

Thank you for letting the link stand, moderator. As I said above, the only reason I didn't post them simultaneously on both boards was that Billy beat me to it. And I did say I felt it was childish on both sides. The only reason I did not say that on the other forum was that Diane actually let Billy's link stand, and he had already posted it before I thought of doing it myself. So I guess there is some hope over there as well for moving on to first grade, and maybe even graduating from 6th in a few years.
As Tricia said, it's pretty hard to get Billy that angry. And I am not very happy myself at the concept of having my posts edited or deleted for editorial content. Whatever else Diane has done (and I am not totally thrilled with her either), she has never edited or deleted any of my posts. Since she has taken the very small step of allowing Billy's link to stand, I very much appreciate your doing the same.
Tricia--TEN moderators? Is that reality, or are you exaggerating for effect?
I can only think of two people that I know of who have been banned by Diane--David and bloodyknife. Can anybody tell me who else, and why?

Supposedly there is more than one moderator--I thought I'd heard ten directly from one of them, but my mind might be a little weak (blame it on the migraines). I'm guessing Bill Blake is one of them--some of these posts ring with the attitude he has shown me and others via private email. There is a woman as well--if we are to believe it--but since I know Joan Croy doesn't *do* the 21st Century, it's anyone's guess whom that female is.

bloodyknife was a friend of keogh's who lacked internet access at home, and registered on Diane's forum using keogh's computer. Diane accused keogh of posting under two different names, refused to believe the explanation, and banned bloodyknife. I have never understood why she did that, or why she assumed keogh was not telling the truth. That is why I mentioned the many computers I post from, just so nobody will be confused.

Who was "bloodyknife"? I don't remember him? Short-lived. He decided to carry a personal agenda--at another member's behest, I am certain--against Robert Nightingale to the board that represented (at the time) the Little Bighorn Associates. As I have said, anyone is entitled to hate who they want, but do it in other methods and along other forms of communication. And before this statement comes back in my face, I don't hate anybody. I hate attitude. But apart from those two, I don't know of anyone else. Conz disappeared for a while, but it was because of work and his ponies. Oh, yeah .... there were several who demanded McLeod's banning--but he's just the board's curmeodgeon and really quite harmless. I'd love to know if DC would be shown the door here--if he hasn't already.

So I guess there is some hope over there as well for moving on to first grade, and maybe even graduating from 6th in a few years. I thank you for your efforts as a peacemaker, Melani. But Diane has announced her policy of freezing us out for several months now with no more than a peep out of you or anyone else at her site up till now. It seems the only time you all got upset was when I announced a reciprocal policy. If you wish to scream and yell here about it, that is fine with me, but had you done this at Diane's site when it was first announced, we would not be dealing with this issue now. But like yourself, I am glad that it has finally been resolved. We are not hear to discuss Diane's editing or removal of posts, or her banning or threats to ban others. She has done them all without so much as a word of complaint coming from you or others at her board. Because she has not done so to you means little overall. If Billy blatantly violated an open request by the moderator to lock down a thread, and then personally insulted the moderator with abusive language, he would be treated the same regardless of what board he was on. He would not dare act so on Diane's board. The fact that he so willingly did on this board should indicate to all his true motives. Best Regards, The Moderator

If Ms Merkel was so damned good , why OH WHY! does she let filth like that wanker dark cloud on there. The words he spits forth are truly more venemous then whatever CSS spat out at the time...and I must admit that ALOT of folks on that board were goading him. Before yall start jumping up and down and labelling me pro Custer or a neo right winger ( at least I won't roll over to all the whinging democrats in the world)....alot of you are just stirrers. Iam not interested that Custer or Reno or even Sitting bull wore ladies underware on the day, I was there to talk to fellow reenactors NOT be attacked by an intellectual arse like dark cloud and when the moderator did nothing well it was time to leave. To attack someones hobby and in places their lifestyles is unforgivable and I notice that degenerate moron still continues on his diatribe of crap over there.....nearly as good as that pathetic pro pocket pageant of fartingales at LBH

We are not hear to discuss Diane's editing or removal of posts, or her banning or threats to ban others. She has done them all without so much as a word of complaint coming from you or others at her board. This is patently untrue and you know it. If you don't know it, then you are using a selective reading technique. I, for one, have tried to make peace between you two. The fact that I failed, doesn't mitigate the effort. As for attacks on Diane, she has taken a lot more than what I have seen posted here, and from people a lot more virulent than Billy Markland. Darkcloud and an idiot named "q" come to mind. She banned neither, nor "q" left of her own volition. And there have been others. I don't condone some of the things Diane has posted, but she is playing the role of the injured party and her attacks appear to be those of defense. That is the entire issue, but rather than address "the issue" and seek a solution, we seem to prefer confrontation, even under the guise of defense: she did... ergo, I'll do... Best wishes, Fred.

Guys, guys, guys. Dark Cloud makes his living at being a curmeodgeonly spreader of ... well ... bulloney. If your egos are that inflated or insecure that you must run and hide from him, that's your problem, not his. He's an equal opportunity insulter; everyone takes a turn--and he hates hypocrites. He accurately points out what is wrong with Custeriana and the nuts that sometimes practice it, but his allusions to how the Legend of GAC as the bon soldat sans reproche (and the gawd-awful Thoughts of Libbie attempt at "art") follows Norse mythology is simply perfect.
Some of us do care what underwear GAC wore--if it helps to gain a further insight into his personality, it is rendered historically important. That said, I really could have lived without a pikkie of GAC's jock strap. Ugh.
This brings me to another point about that board: apart from DC, reenactors are highly respected by the members of it. There is little personal or financial gain to be found in the art, something that is widely recognised by us; it's an act of love--though in agreement with MacLeod, I have to admit I saw more than my share of fat soldiers at the Realbirds' reenactment ... and several of the participants who take the roles of various historical personages are a bit long in the tooth to be playing 30 year olds.
