Hello, fellow Custer fans,
I wanted to take a moment to announce the March 2008 program of the Chambersburg Civil War Seminars, which is a Custer in the Civil War program. The dates are March 27-30, 2008, and will be headquartered at the Four Points Sheraton in Chambersburg. Information about the program can be found here: www.chambersburgcivilwarseminars.org/Custer_Seminar.html
Ed Bearss and I will be leading 3 different tours during this program. The first will focus on Custer during the retreat from Gettysburg, the second will focus on Custer during the Gettysburg Campaign, up to and including East Cavalry Field at Gettysburg, and the third will be a battlefield tour of the Trevilian Station battlefield in Louisa County, Virginia.
Jeff Wert and Greg Urwin will also be presenting at this conference, and it should be an excellent program.
I have read your Cavalry books on the Civil War Eric, and they are top rate indeed! Ed Bearss, Greg Urwin and yourself make for an all-star cast. Anyone who signs up for this tour should be in for a great treat. Some great presentations scheduled as well. I do hope someone can take some pictures of these locations and post them here at the board when you get a chance. Those who have the means to do so should not miss out on this wonderful opportunity....this event gets my highest recommendation.
"The more I see of movement here (Little Big Horn Battlefield), the more I have admiration for Custer, and I am satisfied his like will not be found very soon again.”
~ Gen. Nelson Miles, Commanding General of the Army ------
"With our cherished ones deliverance within our grasp we waited breathless two hours, for the order that never came."
