As you have probably gathered, I am an Aussie and very new to the Board and the forums. Have had a lifelong interest in the LBH and read whatever I can on it. I would like to pass on details of an Australian website which i think will be of interest to those researching the LBH. Our National Library has a wonderful and ongoing programme to digitised numerous Australian publications, primarily newspapers, going back to 1803 calledTrove. It is very user friendly, particularly the advanced search facility and searchers can also select dates to limit searches, as well as keywords.
To test its use for LBH researchers, I simply entered the keywords 'Custer' and 'Indians', plus a date restriction of 1 January 1876 to 1 January 1877. To my surprise (and i must say delight) some 204 results were found. Now why I think this will be of use to LBH researchers is that most of the results were from Australian newspapers which in turn, were quoting and using US newspaper accounts!
I am not sure of what online access there is to US newspapers from the LBH period online and suspect that, given the volume, there is no centralised source for searches. Trove can be accessed at trove.nla.gov.au/
