My name is Mark, I reside in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and I became interested in the Battle of Little Bighorn last summer. I first read Son of the Morning Star by Evan S. Connell which served as a very good primer to begin one's interest. I then read The Last Stand by Nathaniel Philbrick, followed by A Terrible Glory, James Donovan, and, lastly, To Hell with Honor: Custer and the Little Bighorn by Larry Sklenar. I also own Where Custer Fell which was very important in my visualizing the events described the various books. That is where I left my summer obsession for the season.
Who am I? I love military history, mostly Napoleonic's and the Civil War: But basically anything up to Vietnam I've read about. I practice law here in Pittsburgh so sometimes my time is limited (most especially in the fall and spring, respectively). I am an amateur black powder enthusiast, I have an 1867 French Chassepot that I really enjoy shooting, as well as various muskets and so forth.
My reason for joining these boards was to get information and opinions. Firstly, on what I should read next! I believe I now have the general picture and desire to obtain specifics of the battle. Thank you for having me and hopefully I will learn a lot here!
Welcome to the forum Mark. Feel free to join us in any of our discussions, or even start a few of your own. I think you will find plenty of people here willing to provide information or answer any questions that may be brought up, even if its just their own opinions.
"The more I see of movement here (Little Big Horn Battlefield), the more I have admiration for Custer, and I am satisfied his like will not be found very soon again.”
