Thompson could not ask for a better defender in my opinion.
BE, Thanks for the comments. Made me laugh that I "catch it from all directions". Bill can understand that also. Each one of us who puts themselves out there, understand it.
I would have enjoyed Bill at the reenactment but our paths did not pass. Bill and I did visit and toured the battle field together one fine afternoon. I do believe that was the first year I participated in the reenactment.
Steve you said, "Thompson has very few supports in the NPS, reenactors, informed civilians and military minded persons." That is a true statement as it applied to the past. That was the sentiment when I started my study.
The NPS like to keep with the attitudes put out by other NPS members. Former NPS writer Danial Magnussen wrote his ascetic book on Thompson. Set the stage for the NPS attitude. Trust me not all NPS do not support Thompson. Most reenactors that know me and the Thompson account have come to a better understanding and understand their own misunderstandings. As for "informed civilians and military minded persons", I would say it is more of uninformed. I have seen many authors on this battle stay clear of the Thompson account, more to protect their image than anything else, once you go there your reputation can not go back. If I can not drop the Thompson account into others timeline, they probably have something wrong.
