The basic map to which Curtis overlayed his data, was surveyed in 1891 by R. B. Marshall who became a Big Beaver. www.water.ca.gov/swp/historymarshall.cfm The map post dates the battle by a decade and a half and does not portray theriver as it flowed in 1876. The best that is available is Norris's sketch from 1877. Morrow photographed the ford.
