From left to right: noted Civil War and Custer author Jeffrey Wert, Sgt. Jeremiah Finley (aka. Keving Connelly) and General A. P. Hill (aka. Patrick Falci) at the evening Banquet. Wert! That's awesome! His was the first book I read on Custer. One very good thing about his book is that it bluntly states Custer death details. Its amazing how hard it is to find that information any where else most of the time. Wert's book states it very frankly and thats why I always remember it.

Another shot of Stephen Lang (aka. Gen. George Pickett & Stonewall Jackson) with Sandy and Mrs. Goss at the Farnsworth Tavern (along with myself at the bar in the rear). From the looks of the eyes of the guy sitting at the bar behind the three in the front, it appears the gentleman has had about ten too many and barely able to keep his head from hitting the bar which would probably cause considerable damage to the bar. If there was any wind in that place (or maybe there was a lot of wind), the guy looking like three sheets would have been blown to Montana. Maybe you were just prepping for your next post on the forum. PS. I really wanted to be there to meet with and talk to everyone. bc

Pickett will join us there as well. I do look like 3 sheets to the wind and felt like it too. We had just completed a 4 hour horseback ride across the battlefield in 90+ degree weather. That can drain an old dragoon faster than Reno with a pint of whisky. garryowen, keogh

From left to right: Mother Custer (Joan Croy) along with artist Jerry Thomas and his lovely escort. Btw, Jerry had an impressive painting of Captain Benteen entitled 'Distant Thunder' on display at the Conference. His website is at: www.jerrythomasart.com/gallery.htmlAttachments:

Nate You mentioned that General Alexander Hays acted like a jerk towards Webb. Can you elaborate? I don't know much about his "commanding" style or his history other than his death at The Wilderness. Soldier's and Sailor's Memorial has his saddle that he was using when he was shot, and I do pay him a visit whenever I'm tramping about Allegheny Cemetery where he's buried. His friend, General Grant, paid his old friend a graveside visit during his presidential campaign in Pittsburgh, PA.
