I will try to make that one. I like the stockyard and the stores around it.

I've signed up for the 2011 conference. Dennis Coddington is heading down there Sunday and trying to get a head count for the meals and such this week. If anyone else hasn't signed up yet, you can still confirm with him by email and bring a check to the conference.
A couple friends of ours are going and he can't ride the bus due to health issues. Therefore I am driving to Fort Sill on Thursday and the Washita on Friday. Thursday will be a walking tour of Fort Sill with lunch at the Officer's Club, called the Patriot Club, in the Sheridan Room. Guess we will find out how the officers prepare their hard tack, salt pork, and beans. Washita dinner is at the Croton Creek Ranch house. Sandy Barnard is leading the Washita bus tour and will stop at the Elliott demise site and a couple other places including Fort Reno on the way back. Dennis is leading the Fort Sill bus tour and will talk about Fort Cobb as they drive by it. There is nothing left of Fort Cobb to see.
We are going down Wednesday evening and leaving Saturday after the banquet.
So who else is going or not going? Okie City has some excellent old west museums and an excellent WWII museum.

I'm probably going to do everything that comes up--I think I signed up for everything. I will email my ranger friend at Washita right now and hope she hasn't planned her own vacation for this week. I should be arriving Wednesday evening.

When you visit Washita, ask about the big Indian battle that took place there decades before the 7th's fight. I'll see if I can dig up those details...
