I'm doing some advance intelligence work to see if there is an interest in a Frontier Military IWP era shooting match...Are you interested and/or know of reenactors or groups who would be interested?
The proposed military-themed match would be held in Eastern Montana and would be open to both military muzzleloaders and black-powder cartridge 19th century firearms used on the U.S. frontier. Period military and civilian scout attire would be highly encouraged but not required for participation.
The proposed event would likely be two days in duration; a Friday and Saturday; held in the spring or early fall. Precise location is YTBD.
Shooting events would likely have a mix of team; long-distance and timed elements; based on IWP scenarios and garrison training..(period looking targets or skirmish style, teamed competition, etc.) Other military events can be considered as well.
Please respond to this thread and let me know if this is a niche you'd like to explore. Suggestions are welcome!
We have several buffalo rifle/BPCR (black powder cartridge rifle) shoots here in eastern Montana already (the Quigley drew over 500 shooters last year, near Forsyth) --but none cater specifically to the reenactor/IWP enthusiast crowd.
The more response the more likely we'll do this.... Thanks in advance!
Boo! Well I can understand the lack of response, here. But...If anyone is interested in loading up some good old hollow-based Springfield bullets on top of 55 - 70 grains of black and blowing it out a trapdoor tube...let me know. There's plenty of prairie dogs across the yellowstone from the Powder River Depot.
