How did things go at Winchester at the conference? bc Had a wonderful time there. We had some great speakers talking about Custer in the Shenandoah Valley, especially the guest of honor, none other than Ulysses S. Grant who told us all how much he really admired the aggressive and inspired leadership of General Custer (despite what we might have otherwise read in books and papers). When I asked Grant for his favorite brand of whiskey, he simple replied, "Yes." He also assured us that he did not approve of the actions of his brother Orville and that Orville did not speak for him. In fact, he said Orville was cut off from all contact with the family for several years after the scandal he caused. The Conference was a great success. I enjoyed meeting the old-timers like Don Horn (Board Member emeritus), Joan Croy, Mary Jo Romero, Bill Blake, Dale Kosman, Kevin Connelly, Dick & Jeannie Micka, Lee Chambers, Lorne Langley, Brian Delvecchio, Sandy Barnard, Dale Harrison, Terry Jones, Jerry Thomas, Tina Walker, John Hart, Vince Heier, Spencer Waldron, Kevin Galvin, Randy Johnson, Jeff Broome, Melani Van Petten, Terri Zapata, Ray Hillyer, Phyllis Hummel and so many others. On the other hand, we missed seeing yourself, Fred Wagner, Bill Serritella, & Colleen who were all unable to attend this year. Next year looks to be an interesting and exciting conference centered on the Battles of Five Forks, Saylor's Creek and Appomatox. Our conference headquarters will be at the Holiday Inn in Lynchburg, Va. garryowen, keogh

Regarding the LBHA meeting in August 2018 in Gettysburg:
From Project Chairman Bill Serritella:
Headquarters will be at the Wyndham Gettysburg. The Co-Project Officers, Fr. Vince Heier, Bruce Liddic, and I require a measuring stick so as to provide sufficient number of buses and hotel rooms. Family members and friends are eligible to register. I personally want the 2018 Gettysburg meeting to be as successful as the 2012. BUT WE NEED HELP in determining the attendance. Thank you for your cooperation. The LBHA Gettysburg meeting will be held the 2nd week in August 2018. My co project officers and I need to gauge how many buses and rooms to make available for the anticipated attendees; will each individual respond to this post either here or at the Little Big Horn Associates Facebook page if you feel that at this time you anticipate attending the LBHA August 2018 meeting? Please respond to total # of registrations per family.
Thank you.
Bill Serritella
P.S. Members will be asked if they are interested in the additional horse ride on the battlefield accompanied by those of us in period uniforms. The ride will constitute an additional cost, but right now we just want the anticipated number of attendees.

In the final count down.
Get the AZ RGR truck computer updated tomorrow. Loading everything including for the Montana visit later. Maybe home by July 4.
Looking forward to being there.
I talked with Lorne and told him I would be there in 2018.

Some sad news at the LBHA conference. Apparently a lot of money is missing and an investigation of Bill Blake was started.

Also you must go to thelbha.com since the .org must still be in dispute. Regards Steve Andrews

Word just came in on the Little Big Horn Associates Summer Conference in Gettysburg, PA from Aug. 8 to 12, 2018 at the Wyndham Hotel. We will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the movie Gettysburg and Patrick Falci will be in attendance to recreate his role as Gen. A.P. Hill. Other presenters will include James Hessler, Sandy Bernard and Hilda Koontz. I encourage all of our members to attend this event and meet some of our regular members in the flesh, including myself, Fred Wagner, Steve Andrews, Lorne Langley, Spencer Waldron, Ray Hillyer, Dale Kosman, Bill Serritella, Kevin Galvin, Western artists Jerry Thomas and Terry Jones and many others. For those interested in attending, download and print the following registration form and return with fee to: Little Big Horn Associates: Gettysburg William Serritella 508 Summerset Court Naperville, IL 60565 (630) 717-7317 FORM REGISTRATION LBHA GETTYSBURG 20....xlsx (12.76 KB)
