Fred:
Another birthday? They seem to come faster as we grow older (not old).
Remember what The Who said: "I hope I die before I get old" (it was old in the head they were talking about, not the actual number)
Rock on Fred!

Man I gotta tell you after having met you that there's no way you are that age. Either you can afford that really expensive bourbon or you took a lot of drugs in the sixties. To quote a famous philosopher "you look marvelous!"
Happy Birthday dear friend!

This day in History----July 31 1777: The Marquis de Lafayette, age 19, is commissioned a major-general in the Continental Army. A young Fred Wagner was placed on his staff. Happy Birthday Fred

I must tell you all, you are very kind and I appreciate your comments, your thoughts, and your consideration more than you can know. My goal is to meet every one of you, and Michael ("Scout"), my only regret is that we spent so little time together and I would have dearly liked to have spent more. The same with you, Britt. Some how, some way, I will make an effort to do that. Bill, I will see you within a month or two-- in New York. Steve, my wife keeps egging me on for another cross-country trip-- the southern route, as she calls it-- so expect a visitor as soon as I can pull that off. Larry, we will be living too close not to meet, especially if you can make it to Gettysburg one of these days. Clair, many thanks; it is an honor. Highwayman... you know how I feel about you, here or there. Thank you. You guys are all the best.
And as for Markland, you ol' dog... we'll pull it off, eventually.
Thanks again, all my friends.
Very best wishes, Fred.

Wow, thanks, Fred--that's downright embarrassing! We'll be at Washita in 2011, and at Gettysburg for the 150th. See you there!

Washita 2011, huh? That's just down the road from me. OK, down several roads, 6 hours worth.

Z girl, the 2011 conference will be at Okie City. They will bus tour to the Washita. Too many people want to fly in and then have a city for the noncoms to shop and stuff. There seems to be an Association preference for Holiday Inn Conference centers as well. The last conference that went to the Washita stayed at Amarillo, TX. No one was interested in going back there. I have told the powers that be that I would look for suitable lodging closer to the battlefield but I do not expect to find anything suitable or suitable enough to move it out of Okie City. Elk City has over 900 motel rooms in 20 motels including a 150 room Holiday Inn. It probably has more accomodations than North Platte. It is 112 miles from OKC and not far from the battlefield. Anyone flying would have to rent a car is all. They would be close enough they could scrap the buses and save a bunch of money. Otherwise someone else is working on the Okie City arrangements.

I'll be missing that conference. 2011 will see me (if I'm still alive!) back at the LBH with my buddies, once again walking the valley, checking out the routes, wandering up to the Rosebud battle site, the Powder River battle site, the Mint Bar in Sheridan and a buffalo steak dinner and some bluegrass at the Occidental.
God, I love it!
Best wishes, Fred.
