I see some value to your yellow comments but how could you possibly know that? It doesn't say what Benteen said.
The account did indicate what Benteen said when he said Reno should have remained in the timber position in the valley. It also indicated that Benteen did not disagree or argue with Hare when Hare mentioned that Benteen would not have waited for the arrival of the pack train before moving into the valley to support Reno. It was obvious to Hare exactly what Benteen would have done. I have said the same thing myself.
